Swanage Lifeboat Week AUGUST 2023

🗓️ Friday 11th – Sunday 20th August 2023

Join the team at Swanage Lifeboat Station for ten days of RNLI festival fun both in the bay and on land at Prince Albert Gardens.

It’s a packed programme of activities and entertainment, from the much-loved build-a-boat competition to the popular lifeboat quiz.

Runners can take part in ‘The Lifeboat Loop’ – a 5k coastal circular run. Lots of people also take part at a slower pace, so if you prefer to jog or walk you can still get involved.

And there’ll be plenty of live music and great food & drink to chill out – or have a boogie – to, all overlooking the beautiful Swanage Bay

Lifeboat week activities

Lifeboat week activities include a range of family-friendly activities and live music at its hub at Swanage’s Prince Albert Gardens.

Join the rest of the town in cheering on annual favourites the duck race and the build-a-boat race from the stone quay.
Watch or take part in a fun-run and get a team together for the RNLI fundraising quiz.

There’s live bands on the stage at the amphitheatre in Prince Albert Gardens, as well as a beer tent and hot food.

The amphitheatre is also where the festival fair & stalls are held, along with any outdoor theatre and cinema performances – perfect for a chilled evening where you can bring a blanket, sit back and watch a show against the stunning backdrop of Swanage Bay.

The lifeboat house will be open for visitors to explore during parts of the week, and there’ll be plenty of crew members and volunteers around the bay and town to chat to.

Swanage Lifeboat Week’s not just a fun, family event but a vital fundraising opportunity for the life-saving charity, so any support is welcomed.

Raft race

The annual build-a-boat competition and race in the bay is always a popular event and draws crowds from across town to cheer the participants on.

Boats are made from materials provided, with raft crew being allowed to bring hand tools to help build the best boat – all within four hours.

Anyone can enter – and there’s a cash prize for the first raft to row to the finish line.

The duck race

We love this silly, brilliant part of the week so much we had to share some photos of 2022’s Lifeboat Week duck race in its own little section…
