The Isle of Purbeck Model Railway Exhibition
(Harman’s Cross Village Hall)
AUGUST 2026

🗓️ Saturday 8th – Sunday 9th August 2026

An annual treat for railway enthusiasts – the Isle of Purbeck Model Railway Exhibition returns to Harman’s Cross Village Hall this weekend.

In 2025 there were 14 exhibits, featuring highly-detailed designs and painstakingly-created layouts representing different eras of railway history.

The highlight of the show was a 20-foot long OO scale layout depicting Swanage Station and its goods yard up to Herston Halt.

It was expertly crafted by East Kent Model Railway Society member Paul Edwards and made its Dorset debut here in 2025.

This is always a popular event and many visitors choose to combine their visit with a trip on the Swanage Railway, bringing the miniature nostalgia of the exhibition to life.

Everyone is welcome, so if you’re new to the hobby or are interested in learning more, the Model Railway Show is a great chance to chat to a friendly and knowledgeable community.

Refreshments will be available to purchase, alongside a range of trade stands where you can find an array of model railway coaches, wagons, figures and accessories to add to your collection – or to start your very first model railway layout.

The Swanage Railway shop at Swanage Station also has model trains and parts available to buy all year round.

Arrive to the exhibition by train into Harman’s Cross Railway Station or park just across the road in the village hall car park (small donation).
