🗓️ Fridays (& Tuesdays in summer)
Greengage Community Garden is a special space in Swanage town – a little oasis of calm open to everyone.
Whether you’re a keen gardener or complete novice and would like to learn more about gardening, come along and join this welcoming group where you can be part of a community caring for this peaceful yet productive pocket of land.
There’s a fantastic array of plants, wildflowers, fruit and vegetables being grown in the gardens here, along with cold frames and a large greenhouse for winter use.
The garden has several raised beds with wide walkways, ideal for those with mobility issues, and is equipped with plenty of workbenches for sowing seeds and transplanting seedlings. There’s also a large craft bench, which is often used for workshop events at the garden.
Being part of this community garden means you can bring your knowledge to help with its upkeep or if you’re new to gardening, learn the basics such as how to cultivate a plot of land, sow seeds and tend to growing veggies.
People living with long-term health problems or disabilities are particularly encouraged to come along to enjoy some gentle garden work and a cup of tea.
And of course you are free to enjoy the delicious garden produce, which is available for the community to take home – come and help yourself to what’s in season. There’s a collection tin if you’d like to leave a donation.
