Come along to a fun and free family day at Studland Bay today, packed with activities inspired by the sand dunes here.

The ‘BioBlitz adventure’ is an immersive event celebrating World Sand Dunes Day and highlighting the important role sand dunes play in coastal ecosystems.

Discover the beauty and biodiversity of Studland’s sand dunes – find out how they are formed and learn all about the minibeasts and plant life that call them home.

  • Timings: 10am – 3pm
  • Location: Knoll Beach

Guided group activities include:

  • Minibeast hunt: Use a sweep net to find & observe fascinating invertebrates in the dunes
  • Plant surveys: Join the Dorset Flora Group to learn about plants that thrive here & the vital role they play
  • Pond dipping: Use identification guides to discover what lives in the dune ponds
  • Butterfly transects: Spot the species on a dedicated walking route

Self-guided walking activities:

  • Beach scavenger hunt
  • Woodland walk with ‘spotter sheets’
  • Heather walk challenge
