Dorset chamber choir The Orlando Singers is performing in Swanage this autumn with a new concert: Helen Ostafew’s ‘Requiem for Humanity’, along with a selection of music from Gershwin, Chilcott, Sachs, Richard Rogers and more.
Accompanied by Helen on the piano, plus a string quintet made up of local musicians, the concert held at Swanage EBC is inspired by hope and unity.
Requiem for Humanity is a multi-faith choral mass and deals with messages of human interconnectedness and themes of life and death.
The Latin mass comprises 11 movements and incorporates poems and words from Auden, Yeats and Gandhi and is set alongside texts from Buddhism, Judaism, Daoism and Hinduism.
Requiem for Humanity has been broadcast by BBC Radio 3 and combines influences from a variety of genres, from classical and folk, to world and film music.
