One of the top attractions of Carnival Week is its three days of spectacular fireworks.

The displays are held at sundown, typically on the first Saturday, the Wednesday and final Saturday of the week.

These summer fireworks are best-enjoyed by grabbing a spot on the hill above the beach where you can join in the countdown and watch as Swanage’s sky and bay are illuminated with colour.
Other popular spots to view the fireworks are from The Downs, which look across the sea to the beach, or the stone quay.

There’s usually pre-firework entertainment on the Wednesday – in 2024, we were treated to a fire show and performances on the seafront.
Swanage Carnival’s fireworks are a great way to start the week with a bang and end a week of festivities on a high note.
- Start time: 9.45pm approx.
- Location: Swanage seafront

Parking
The fireworks tend to kick off at around 9.45pm, although it’s best to arrive early to get a good viewing spot and to ensure you get parked up in time.
Parking can be incredibly busy during Carnival week, especially for popular events like this, so it’s best to allow plenty of time, or to arrive by bus or train.
Both Swanage rail and bus stations are just a five-minute stroll from Shore Road and the Carnival showground.
