Celebrating 200 years of female composers, Purbeck Arts Choir is bringing a specially-curated concert to St Mary’s Church this November.
The choir will be accompanied by mezzo-soprano singer Grace Lovelass and together they will perform a range of music by classical ‘women of note’ including Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Cecilia McDowall and many more.
Grace will also sing some solo pieces, including:
- Souvenir – Augusta Holmès
- Love, O Thou Shaft of Gold from The Wreckers – Ethel Smyth
- Heart of Stone from Six The Musical – Lucy Moss
- A Grateful Heart – Mary Plumstead
- Sacred Fire, written for the King’s coronation – Sarah Class
Concert start time – 6.30pm

About the choir
Purbeck Arts Choir is a mixed SATB choir of some 60 singers who meet regularly to rehearse for two performances each year.
The choir is always open to new members, no audition necessary.
