This weekend, Corfe Castle will once again be taken over by The English Civil War Society, which will perform dramatic re-enactments for visitors of the castle’s famous 1946 ‘siege and betrayal’.

Step back in time as the castle’s inhabitants and Lady Bankes go about their daily lives, cooking and feasting, with authentic costume, and experience living history displays of leatherworking, coin making and the work of herbalists.

You’ll also get a chance to train with the soldiers, learning more about their weapons and armour.
- Day’s timings: 10am – 4.30pm
- Cost: Free; normal castle admission applies

Detailed Timings
Witness replica weaponry being fired in the Outer Bailey at the following times:
- 12pm: Cannon fire
- 1pm: Musket fire
- 2:30pm: Musket fire
- 3:30pm: Musket fire
Both days will close with a battle re-enactment:
- Saturday: The Siege of Corfe Castle – Watch the drama unfold as an attempt to capture the castle is thwarted
- Sunday: The Betrayal – The castle is stormed by the Roundheads and taken for Parliament, thanks to traitor Colonel Pitman
